Hunger Striker Feared Comatose

Concern has been mounting steadily for the Evin prison inmates who began their hunger strike 15 days ago. The situation just took an even more serious turn, with news that Majid Tavakoli has been transferred to the Evin Prison clinic, unconscious and in critical condition.

Majid is a student activist (please note NOT a political prisoner, a prisoner of conscience) who first drew world attention when he was arrested, beaten and photographed dressed in women's clothing as part of his torture. The response from supporters around the world was immediate and emphatic: men posted photos of themselves dressed in scarves on FaceBook and elsewhere, and the "Men in Hejab" campaign was born.

This is the 15th day of Majid's 3rd hunger strike, along with two other prisoners, he has refused both food and liquids for the past 5 days.
