Six prisoners in Iran's notorious Rejaei Shahr prison in Karan have been added to the list, according to a report from BBC Farsi today, bringing the total to 25 at the time of posting this update.
- Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, Senior member of Democratic Front of Iran party and former editor of banned student news publication.
- Isa Saharkhiz, Columnist for the reformist news Web sites Rooz Online and Norooz and a founding member of the Association of Iranian Journalists
- Masoud Bastani, Journalist for the reformist newspaper Farihikhtegan and Jomhoriyat
- Jafar Eghdami, Human Rights activist
- Ali Ajami, Tehran University law leftist student and editor in chief of a student publication. Member of the Students for Freedom & Equality.
- Keyvan Samimi, a political prisoner under the previous regime and former Editor in Chief of a banned monthly magazine, member of the Civil Rights Protection Committee, Committee to Follow-up on Arbitrary Arrests and the Education Rights Committee.
The 19 identified yesterday are:
1 Dr Mohammad Ali Taheri , physician & alternative health practitioner who began his hunger strike in protest at unfair treatment and conditions after being detained on or around 12 May 2011
Three Kurdish political prisoners who began a hunger strike on or shortly after 1st June 2011 to protest being transferred to Rejaei Shahr prison in Karaj and illegally housed with the general prison population
2 Alnor Khaziri,
3 Kamran Shakhi and
4 Seyed Ebrahim Seyedi
Three Evin prisoners who began their strike on 5 June 2011 with Hoda Saber to protest prison conditions, and were supposed to end it on 12 June 2011, but decided to continue after his death:
5 Mehdi Khodaie, a human rights activist and the former secretary of the city of Rey’s Islamic Student Union in Azad University;
6 Arash Sadeghi, a member of Mir Hossein Mousavi’s 2009 presidential campaign and a member of the Central Council of Allameh Tabatabai University’s Islamic Student Union; and
7 Ahmad Shah Rezaie, undergraduate student of Architecture
Twelve prisoner who began a hunger strike on 12 June 2011 to protest the deaths of former prisoner Saleh Sahabi & hunger striker Hoda Saber
8 Emad Behavar (head of the Freedom Movement’s Youth Branch);
9 Ghorban Behzadian Nejad (advisor for Mir Hossein Mousavi);
10 Bahman Ahmadi Amoui (journalist);
11 Abdollah Momeni (Central Council of the alumni association Tahkim-e Vahdat Alumni Association);
12 Hassan Asadi Zeidabadi (Central Council of the alumni association Tahkim-e Vahdat Alumni Association);
13 Amir Khosrow Dalirsani (Nationalist-Religious Coalition);
14 Abolfazl Ghadyani (Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution Organization);
15 Feizollah Arabsorkhi (Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution Organization);
16 Mohammad Reza Moghisseh (journalist and member of the Mousavi/Karroubi post-election fact-finding committee);
17 Mohammad Davari (Chief Editor of Saham News);
18 Former Deputy Foreign Minister Mohsen Aminzadeh; (replaced Mohammad Javad Mozaffar, released on temporary leave 21 June 2011)
19 Mehdi Eghbal (Islamic Iran Participation Front) (replaced Emad Baghi, released on completion of sentence 21 June 2011)
