Glistener: Karroubi: "Mistreatment of Prisoners' Family on Ashura: Desperation of Authoritarian Regime"

Monday December 20th, 2010 - In a conversation with family members of incarcerated political prisoners, Mehdi Karroubi expressed shock regarding the manner in which Mohammad Nourizad's family had been treated on Ashura, reiterating that this type of behavior only demonstrates the authoritarian government's desperation. Karroubi spoke by phone with a number of families of political prisoners regarding the condition of their loved ones in prison, praying for the the end to their troubles and their prompt release from prison.

According to a variety of news outlets, last night after announcing a political fast in solidarity with their incarcerated loved ones on hunger stike, family members of a number of these political prisoners gathered together in order to break their fast at the end of the day and hold "Iftar"*. The Iftar that took place at the home of one of the political prisoners was the beginning of a series of gatherings these families plan to hold until their loved ones have been freed.

Reza Khandan, Nasrin Sotoudeh's husband present at this gathering expressed grave concern for the well being of his wife who is on a hunger strike stating that something needed to be done in order to address her life threatening situation.

Mohammad Nourizad's wife, Fatemeh Maleki who phoned from the ICU at Modares hospital asked all those present to pray for the health and well being of Nourizad and all the other loved ones on hunger strike.

Mehdi Karroubi also spoke with some of the family members present with regards to the conditions of their loved ones, praying that their problems be resolved and that they be released from prison as soon as possible. In a conversation with Fakhrossadat Mohtashamipour, wife of imprisoned reformist Mostafa Tajzadeh Karroubi expressed shock regarding the events that she and Nourizad's family had endured on Ashura and reiterated that these types of events only demonstrate the level of desperation of an authoritarian regime.

Tajzadeh's wife stated: "Although the events that occurred on Ashura were bitter and difficult to endure, witnessing the evil doings of those responsible for our country, all in the name of Islam, was even more difficult. Our rulers shout in protest against every wrong doing that occurs in every corner of the globe, but within the Islamic Republic all types of wrong doings by the government and security officials are either denied or promoted. Not a single person cries out in protest and those responsible for the sins committed must not apologize nor repent for their sins."

It is worth mentioning that the families of the political prisoners holding Iftar expressed grave concern and regret regarding the news that Fatemeh Arab Sorkhi and other young reformist had been arrested.

به نوشته سایت‌های خبری، شب گذشته به دنبال اعلام روزه سیاسی خانواده‌های زندانیان سیاسی به نشانه هم بستگی با عزیزان روزه دار و اعتصاب کننده دربند، این خانواده ها در کنار یکدیگر روزه‌شان را افطار کردند. این مراسم که در منزل یکی از زندانیان سیاسی برگزار شد، آغاز سلسله برنامه‌های خانواده ها تا آزادی عزیزانشان از بند ستم بود.
همسر نسرین ستوده که یکی از حاضران جمع بود، با اظهار نگرانی از وضعیت او که روزها است به اعتصاب غذا دست زده است رسیدگی به شرایط و وضعیت به وجود آمده را برای رفع خطرات جدی ضروری دانست.
همسر محمد نوری زاد نیز با تماس تلفنی از بخش سی سی یو بیمارستان مدرس از شرکت کنندگان در این برنامه خواست که برای سلامت آقای نوری زاد و دیگر عزیزانی که در اعتصاب غذا به سر می‌برند، دعا کنند.

همسر تاجزاده نیز تاکید کرد: مشکلات به وجود آمده برای ما هرچند تلخ بود اما تلخ تر از آن منکراتی است که به نام اسلام و توسط مأموران کشور اسلامی صورت می گیرد. اعمالی که در هر گوشه دنیا انجام شود زمامداران ما فریاد اعتراض سرمی دهند اما در جمهوری اسلامی معصیت و منکر توسط حکومت و مأموران حکومتی و امنیتی انجام و ترویج می شود و کسی فرباد وااسلاما و وامحمدا سر نمی دهد و مقصرین و گناه کاران هم توبه و عذرخواهی نمی کنند.
خانواده های زندانیان سیاسی در مراسم افطار روزه سیاسی از شنیدن خبر بازداشت فاطمه عرب سرخی و دیگر جوانان اصلاح طلب اظهار تأسف و نگرانی شدید کردند .
