Preamble 

WE, members of the Ethiopian Youth National Movement (EYNM), who live inside and outside of Ethiopia;

MINDFUL of the historical achievements and shortcomings of the youth of Ethiopia during the Italian invasion, the student movements during Emperor Haile Sellasie and the Derg; 

RECOGNIZING the complex challenges the citizens of Ethiopia face to meet their basic needs due to recurrent famine, deadly diseases, economic hardship, loss of livelihood, displacements from ethnic and religious conflicts, mass migration and human trafficking of Ethiopian youth abroad under very difficult conditions;

REALISING that we, young Ethiopians, pay the heaviest price for the shortsighted economic policies, political blunders and civil wars perpetrated by the regime and opposition parties, and the resulting disastrous political, economic, social and cultural situations;

CONSCIOUS of the fact that it is immoral that adults keep using young Ethiopians to fight their wars, making us suffer as combatants, refugees and internally displaced persons, traumatized and denied political, economic and social opportunities; 

PLEDGING that we the youth shall no longer accept to be used by the Woyane (TPLF) regime and other opportunistic opposition political leaders; 

BEING enthusiastic about the recent developments being led by the youth in North Africa and the Middle East;

RECOGNIZING the need and urgency for empowering the Ethiopian youth, who as always have been the active change agents for the future of Ethiopia and its citizens; 

REAFFIRMING our commitments to take a leading role in resolving the aforementioned problems and challenges facing Ethiopia and its citizens;

REAFFIRMING our belief that these issues shall be addressed in an all inclusive and democratic way, with a vision to establish a just society on the basis of human dignity, equality, liberty, freedom, democracy, justice and rule of law. 

We hereby declare that the following are our guiding principles to bring genuine political, economic, social and cultural changes in Ethiopia.

Article 1: The right to life, individual freedom and human dignity. 

Article 2: The right to citizenship - equality under the law without any discrimination regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, political views, economic and social status. 

Article 3: Civil and political rights - freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of association, freedom of religion, the right to vote and to be elected for a public office. 

Article 4: Economic rights - the equal economic opportunity, the right to own land and property, the right to employ and be employed, economic independence of youth from family and the state. 

Article 5: Social and cultural rights - the right for the pursuit of happiness, social justice, developing and preserving ethnic and religious identities.

Article 6: The need for social contract- formulation of an all inclusive constitution that satisfies the aspirations of the Ethiopian youth. 

Article 7: The need for a just, transparent and democratic government - We the Ethiopian Youth National Movement will help facilitating the establishment of a political system with limited government that has a check-and-balance structure with a legislative, executive, judiciary branches, and independent instruments of discipline (free media and civil societies).

 

የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች መብቶችና ሚናዎች መግለጫ

የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች ብሔራዊ ንቅናቄ : ታህሳስ 2004 ዓ .ም.

መግቢያ 

እኛ በኢትዮጵያ እና በዓለም ዙሪያ ተሠራጭተን የምንኖር የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች ብሔራዊ ንቅናቄ (ኢወብን) አባሎች ፤

የአገራችን ወጣቶች በተለይም በፋሽስት ኢጣሊያ ወረራ ወቅት እንዲሁም በአፄ ኃይለ ሥላሤ እና በደርግ የአገዛዝ ዘመናት በታሪክ ያስመዘገቧቸውን የትግል ውጤቶችንና ያጋጠሟቸውን መሠናክሎች በማስታወስ ፤

የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ በአሁኑ ወቅት የሚጋፈጠዉን የተወሣሠቡ ፈተናዎች ማለትም ፦ ተደጋጋሚ የረሃብ ችግር ፣ የበሽታ ወረርሽኞች ፣ የኢኮኖሚ ጉስቁልና ፣ የኑሮ ህልውና ማጣት ፣ በማኅበረሰብ እና በኃይማኖት ልዩነት ምክንያት ከሚከሠቱ ግጭቶች ጋር በተያያዘ ከመኖሪያ አካባቢ የመፈናቀል ፣ ችጋርን በመሸሽ በገፍ ወደ ሌሎች አገሮች ለመሠደድ የመገደድንና የመሣሠሉትን ከግንዛቤ በማስገባት ፤

በየጊዜው በጉልበታቸዉ ወደ ሥልጣን ኮርቻ በሚወጡ ገዢዎችና በተቃዋሚዎቻቸው መካከል በሚደረጉ የሥልጣን ሽኩቻዎችና የእርስ በእርስ ጦርነቶች እንዲሁም በገዢዎች አማካይነት ሥራ ላይ በሚውሉ የተሣሣቱ መመሪያዎች ምክንያት በሚከሠቱ የፖለቲካ ፣ የኢኮኖሚ ፣ የማኅበራዊ ሕይወትና የባህል ችግሮች ቀዳሚ ተጎጂዎች የሚሆኑት የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች እንደሆኑ በመገንዘብ ፤

የሞራል ኃላፊነት የጎደላቸው በአዋቂ ዕድሜ የሚገኙት መሪዎች በየጊዜው በሚጭሯቸው ጦርነቶች የሚማገዱት የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች በመሆናቸውና ጦርነቶች የሚያስከትሉትን ሥደት ፣ የሥነ-ልቡና መሸማቀቅ እንዲሁም በፖለቲካ ፣ በኢኮኖሚና በማኅበራዊ ሕይወት ተሣትፎ በቂ እድል ያለማግኘት ችግር ሠለባዎች በአብዛኛዉ ወጣቶች መሆናቸውን በማጤን፤ 

የወያኔም ሆነ የሌሎች አድርባይ የተቃዋሚ ፖለቲካ መሪዎች ፀረ ሕዝብ ተልህኮ አስፋፃሚ ላለመሆን በፅናት የቆምን መሆናችንን በማረጋገጥ ፤

በቅርብ ጊዜያት በመካከለኛው ምሥራቅና በሰሜን አፍሪቃ በመካሄድ ላይ በሚገኙት ሕዝባዊ ንቅናቄዎች በተገኙት አበረታች ዉጤቶች በመነቃቃት፤

እንዳለፈው ሁሉ የኢትዮጵያን ዜጎች የወደፊት ዕጣ ብሩህ ለማድረግ የሚታገሉት የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች መሆናቸውን በማስታወስ የዛሬዉ ትውልድ በለውጥ ሐዋርያነት ንቁ ተሣታፊ እንዲሆን ለማብቃት ፤

ኢትዮጵያን እና ዜጎቿን ያጋጠሟቸውን ከላይ የተዘረዘሩትን ችግሮችና መሠናክሎች ለመወጣት ያለንን ቁርጠኝነት በማደሥ ፤

ለእኒህ ጉዳዮች ዓበይት አገራዊ መፍትሔ ለመሻትና ሰብዓዊ ክብር ፣ እኩልነት ፣ ነፃነት ፣ ፍትህ ፣ የሕግ የበላይነትና መልካም አስተዳደር የሠፈነበት ማኅበረሰብ ለመገንባት፣ እኛ ያለን ራዕይ ኢትዮጵያውያንን በሙሉ በሚያሣትፍ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሂደት መጓዝ በመሆኑ፣

እኛ የኢወብን አባሎች በኢትዮጵያ ፍፁምና ትክክለኛ የሆነ የፖለቲካ ፣ የኢኮኖሚ ፣ የማኅበራዊ ሕይወትና የባህል ለውጦችን ለማምጣት የምንመራባቸው ዓበይት መርሆዎች የሚከተሉት መሆናቸዉን እንገልጻለን:: 

አንቀፅ 1፦ የየአንዳንዱ ዜጋ በሕይወት የመኖር ፣ የግለሰብ መብትና ነፃነትና ሰብዓዊ ክብር የማይገሠሡ መሆን አለባቸው።

አንቀፅ 2፦ በሕግ ጥላ ሥር ማንኛውም ኢትዮጵያዊ በዕድሜ ፣ በፆታ ፣ በማኅበረሰብ ማንነት ፣ በኃይማኖት ፣ በፖለቲካ አመለካከት ፣ በኢኮኖሚም ሆነ በማኅበራዊ አቋም ልዩነት ሊደረግበት አይገባም።

አንቀፅ 3፦ ሃሳብን በነፃነት የመግለፅ ፣ የነፃ መገናኛ ብዙኅን ባለቤት የመሆን ፣ የመደራጀት ፣ የኃይማኖት ፣ የመምረጥና የመመረጥ መብቶች የእያንዳንዱ ዜጋ ሉዓላዊ መብቶች መሆን አለባቸው።

አንቀፅ 4፦ በኢኮኖሚ ተሣትፎ የማድረግ ፣ የመሬትና የንብረት ባለቤትነት ፣ የሥራ ዕድል የማግኘት የእያንዳንዱ መብቶች መሆናቸዉና እንዲሁም ወጣቶች ከቤተሰብና ከመንግሥት ጥገኝነት ነፃ የመሆን መብቶች በሕግ መረጋገጥና መከበር አለባቸዉ።

አንቀፅ 5፦ በሰላም የተደላደለ ሕይወት የመኖር ፣ ደስታን የመሻት ፣ ማኅበራዊ ፍትህ የማግኘት ፣ የማኅበረሰብና የኃይማኖት ነፃነትን የመጠበቅና የማበልፀግ መብቶች መከበር ይኖርባቸዋል።

አንቀፅ 6፦ የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶችን የወደፊት ተስፋና ራዕይ የሚያሟላ ፣ ሁሉን አቀፍ የሆነ ሕገ-መንግሥት በሕዝቡ ሰፊና ነፃ ተሳትፎ ተዘጋጅቶ ሊፀድቅ ይገባል።

አንቀፅ 7፦ በሕገ መንግሥቱም ጥላስር በርትዕና በተጠያቂነት የሚያምንና ዲሞክራሲያዊ ስራሀትን የሚከተል መልካም አስተዳደር እንዲፈጠርና እኛ የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች ብሔራዊ ንቅናቄ አባሎች በአገራችን በኢትዮጵያ ውሱን ሥልጣን ያለው ሕዝባዊ መንግሥት እንዲሁም ተመጣጣኝ ሥልጣን ያላቸው ተጠያቂነትን ፣ የተወሰነ ሀላፊነትና የስልጣን ገደብ ይላቸው ባለአራት ዘርፍ የመንግሥት አወቃቀር ፡ እነርሱም ፦ የሕግ አውጪ ፣ የሕግ አስፈፃሚ ፣ የሕግ ተርጓሚና የሕዝብ መብት ተሟጋች (ቃፊር) ተቋሞች (የመገናኛ ብዙኅን እና ሕዝባዊ ማኅበሮች) ያለው የፖለቲካ ሥርዓት እውን እንዲሆን የበኩላችንን ድርሻ ለመወጣት በቆራጥነት መነሳታችንን እናረጋግጣለን።
