I am a strong believer in having a positive attitude and living in the moment, rather than dwelling on the past. Over the past 24 hours, many have analyzed the events of the 22nd Bahman, implying that the Green movement might have experienced some type of failure or setback. I beg to differ. Our strategy may have been less than perfect this time around, but we also have much to be grateful for. I agree with the author of the following article and as such decided to translate and share it with you. We are strong when we are united and forward thinking. We are strong when we believe in our selves and focus on the future. We are countless and we shall prevail. We are GREEN.

Green Means Perseverance Until Spring - "What Setback?"

Unfortunately, we are a sentimental nation at heart. We forget that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad received five and a half million votes and when we see the two hundred thousand people he assembled from all over the country to bring to Tehran, we jump to conclusions and assume that the Green Movement is failing or has had a setback.

Given that those participating in the pro government rallies are greeted with cake, Sandis juice and even gold coins, should we even be surprised if all five and half million who voted for Ahmadinejad show up to the pro government rallies some day? And why does it mean that we have failed or had a setback?

I have personally heard so many lies from the IRIB (Seda O Sima) that I don't trust anything they say anymore. Let's assume the images they broadcast today were actually from today's ceremonies, in the best case scenario, only two hundred and fifty thousand people in the entire country came out today to support this regime. We can even conclude that the five and a half million that voted for Ahmadinejad to begin with, have now been reduced to only two hundred and fifty thousand!

On the other hand, in the provinces where the military presence was significantly lower because they had sent most of their forces to Tehran, the Green movement had a strong showing. In Tehran, due to the pseudo martial law environment, the people were unable to gather and come together properly and were therefore forced to execute the second strategy, i.e. to disperse throughout the city. The ability to bring together small groups to form a larger million person march has always been a challenge for the Green movement and is not exclusive to the 22nd of Bahman protests, and the leaders of the green movement need to reflect upon and resolve this issue.

Let's remember that in this fight, those with a weaker spirit and resolve will end up as losers. So please, let's not get emotional.

متاسفانه ما ملتی احساساتی هستیم، ما فراموش کرده ایم که محمود احمدی نژاد 5 میلیون و نیم رای آورده است و وقتی مثلا 200 هزار نفری که از کل کشور جمع آوری کرده بودند را در تهران میبینیم، گمان میکنیم جنبش سبز شکست خورده است.
با توجه به این که از شرکت کنندگان در راهپیمایی های حکومتی با کیک و ساندیس و حتی سکه طلا پذیرایی میشود، اگر روزی آن 5 میلیون و نیمی که به احمدی نژاد رای داده اند را در راپیمایی های حکومتی ببینیم، آیا جای تعجب دارد و معنی اش این ست که ما شکست خورده ایم؟.
بنده شخصا بقدری از صدا و سیمای ایران دروغ شنیده ام که دیگر هیچ اعتمادی به آن ندارم، اما حتی اگر تصاویر پخش شده آن را نیز مربوط به امروز هم بدانیم، در خوشبینانه ترین وضع، در کل کشور 250 هزار نفر در حمایت از نظام به خیابان ها آمده بودند.
حتی میشود این ادعا را مطرح کرد که 5 میلیون و نیمی که به احمدی نژاد رای داده بودند، ریزش کرده و به حدود 250 هزار نفر رسیده اند!.
اما در دیگر سوی، در شهرستان ها در نبود نیرو های نظام که به تهران منتقل شده بودند، جنبش سبز جولان خوبی داد.... ادامه ...
تنها مشکل در تهران بود که به دلیل حکومت نظامی غیر رسمی ای که بر قرار بود مردم نتوانستند به هم بپیوندند و استراتژی دوم یعنی پخش شدن در کل سطح شهر را اجراء کردند.
عدم توانایی در به هم پیوستن تجمع های کوچک و ایجاد یک تجمع بزرگ میلیونی مشکل همیشگی جنبش سبز بوده و مختص 22 بهمن نیست.
جا دارد که رهبران جنبش فکری برای این مشکل بکنند.
یادمان باشد، در این مبارزه طرفی خواهد باخت که از روحیه ضعیف تری برخودار بوده و خود را ببازد، پس لطفا احساساتی نباشیم.
سبز یعنی استقامت تا بهار.
